Our Story

The entire idea of the Girl Gang was first discussed in 2018 between two female friends who had difficulties finding (and maintaining) friendships with other women.  

They had 100 different dating apps out there, but none where women could find other women to be friends!  Women who wanted to go out to dinner with, or to travel with... maybe have some cocktails and enjoy in girl talk?  

Finding friends as adults is hard.

So, in late 2019, the Girl Gang was born to remedy that!!  

The Girl Gang lived entirely online, in Facebook groups based in Michigan.  Through many trials and tests, we learned that the Girl Gang worked because SO many women were like us and needed a place to find friendship!  

All of our chapters have events that are hosted and attended by our members.  Those events range from coffee and dinner to cruise ships and caving trips!  Anything you can think of that you wish you had some Gal Pals to go with you, you can host in the Girl Gang!

In July of 2023, the Girl Gang officially became "The Girl Gang of America", a registered Nonprofit Social Club.  While we don't collect any membership dues, we do run fundraising efforts regularly for our annual "Gangsta-versary" party, where all of our GGA chapters come together to celebrate how much we have accomplished throughout the year!

The Girl Gang of America has proved it is very needed in so many communities!  Women throughout Michigan and in surrounding states request to become members and to open additional chapters regularly.  We are growing slowly, and as we learn from our past mistakes, we are aiming to create a strong sisterhood all across America with the GGA!

Cat Fosgate is continuing to uphold the "Girl Gang of America" organization and ideals as its President and operates it with the help of an amazing administration team.  

Peggy Taylor and Angie Guadagnini continue to operate as Co-Vice Presidents and members of our Board.  

Each of our chapters has its own team of volunteer administrators to help encourage members to host and attend a variety of events!

As a team, we work hard to protect our little corner of the internet for a safe place for women from ALL walks of life to come and make new friends!

The Girl Gang of America has enjoyed so many events since it began.  Often the admins will host "Meet & Greet" events where women will come together and just mingle over dinner and drinks.  It's a fabulous way to get your feet wet and meet your local chapter members!

Although Chapters are focused on a specific geographic area, many times members will visit other chapters or join their events.  

For example, the Jackson Michigan Chapter hosts tubing events, photoshoots, and parties regularly, in which surrounding chapters attend!  Here's a shot of last year's tubing trip!
